Analysis of A Halloween Costume

Dressing for Halloween is an interesting phenomenon that has mutated a bit, over the years and spanning the continents. Halloween costumes began some time ago in the UK as traditional monsters and demons which were appropriate for the pagan origins of Hallowe’en. Leave it to America to take it a step further and capitalize on the fact that Halloween has transitioned into an opportunity to express whatever Inner Self one didn’t have the means or the courage to express the other 365 days of the year. Why be a boring Ghost when you can be a Race Car Driver, or a Elfin Princess, or a version of whatever Pop Culture Icon is the flavor that month. OR you can go the other route and plan your disguise based on whatever props you happen to own. Regardless of how it comes to fruition, the end result costume is sure to have some sexual connotation. The Girl who dresses up as the Sexy Monster, or the Dude who dresses up as the Dashing Gangster. Because as we know, Violence is Power and Power is Sexy.
